LITTLE ROCK,Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas attorney general's office has rejected proposed ballot wording for a measure that would place restrictions on campaign finance and lobbying laws in the state.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's office on Wednesday said there was ambiguity in a section of the measure's text.

The proposal is being developed by the group Regnat Populus, which gathered signatures earlier this year in an attempt to get the measure on last month's general election ballot. The group fell short of the 62,000 signatures of registered voters that it needed.

That measure would have blocked corporate contributions to political candidates and required former legislators to wait a year before working as lobbyists.
