ASH FLAT, Ark. (AP) — Voters in Sharp County will decide in November whether alcohol sales should be allowed in the county.

The Sharp County clerk's office says the group Save Energy, Reap Taxes has submitted enough verified signatures to get the measure on the ballot.

Jonesboro television station KAIT reports that the clerk's office verified 4,835 signatures. The group needed just under 4,100 to qualify for the ballot.

The county clerk's office says the deadline has passed for anyone to file a request for injunction to keep the measure off the ballot.

Backers of the measure say they believe that allowing alcohol sales will benefit the economy and reduce the number of people who drive 20 to 30 minutes into Missouri to make their purchases.
