Relocating your family's valuables, insurance policies, stock certificates, and other financial assets should be at the top of any checklist of things to do before moving day. If it is necessary to store any of these items during the move, it is probably best that arrangements be made with your bank for a safety deposit box. The best method of storage will depend on the items stored. If you are storing computer tapes or software, you will need to verify that the storage facility you contact has an environment which will protect the items from extremes in temperature and moisture. If you are storing items such as stereo speakers, it is important they be protected from contact with magnets. Once you have determined that your records will be stored safely, make sure that you that you know the available times you may have access to your items in the storage facility. Storage facilities with computerized gates often times have 24-hour access. Contact your local moving or storage company for more information on storing records.
