Marriage license requirements differ from state to state. Requirements for a license can usually be obtained by writing or by calling the County Clerk's office or the County Records department. Generally, the requirements for a marriage license deal with age of consent, residence, and citizenship. In order to save time, be sure you can answer the following questions before going to apply for a license: - do both of us need to apply in person and together? - what is the waiting time before and after the license is issued? - does the state require blood or AIDS tests? - what is the fee? and - what identification is required? Being prepared and informed can help prevent any last minute problems. For more information, contact a wedding professional or your County Clerk's office.
