Body of drowning victim not found after 3 days of searching
After a third day of searching authorities have yet to locate the body of an apparent drowning victim on Lake DeGray. Authorities from both the Clark and Garland County Sheriffs’ offices have been searching the area where a 19-year-old man went under Monday and never resurfaced.
They been using recently acquired side scan sonar but so far the victim has not been found.
We are told the teen was with a church group that left out in a boat from the dock near the DeGray State Park lodge. They went out to the middle of the lake and started swimming from the boat. High winds Monday pushed the craft farther from the swimmers than they realized and the one man simply could not make it back before going under the water.
The search is expected to resume tomorrow. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
