With just over two months on the job at the new Conway facility, employees with technology giant Hewlett Packard take time out for a dedication ceremony. The $28 million state-of-the-art HP facility in Conway's Meadows Technology Park is the result of lots of meeting, planning and hard work.
The company is celebrating by inviting city and state leaders to a dedication ceremony. Mayor Tab Townsell says for HP to choose Conway out of 26 sites across the United State's is quite an accomplishment.
"The site selection team was able to look at Conway and see a city that was improving itself that could do a job and will become a city of prosperity," says Townsell.
The skilled workforce and drive to succeed made HP's decision easy.
"This has been an area that has said we want to grow and has recognized the things we need to get it done to grow and help a community and company like HP grow," says Mike Holston with HP.
Governor Mike Beebe considers HP an asset to the entire state.
"When one part of Arkansas does well and people have good jobs then that helps the state economy as a whole, kind of bleeds over," says Beebe.
The HP facility here isn't fully up to staff yet but work here has kicked into high gear. The people here are helping the company continue to make an impact in the technology world.
"Our run rate, according to analysts, is $125 billion of revenue a year. We ship almost three printers a second and three PC's a second," says Mark Hurd with HP.
The hiring process continues at HP. The average salary is around $50,000. You can follow jobs openings for HP on Twitter:
