LITTLE ROCK, AR – Injured Star City football player Zack Towers is able to breath on his own without a respirator, according to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

The hospital says it will keep Zack off the respirator for two hours before putting him back on it. They plan to repeat the process, gradually weaning him off of it completely.

Zack is still in serious condition, although the hospital notes his temperature is down and his blood pressure is good.

Zack collapsed on the field while playing football on November 1st. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency brain surgery. He was later transferred to Children’s, where is condition has steadily been improving.
