A Little Rock man says he almost fell victim to a growing scam targeting people over the phone through a sophisticated software program.

Benjamin Filbert says he got a call Tuesday, and when he answered, a recording said it wants to help him find a job.

"In the beginning, I was going along with it because I was curious to see if I did click on something online," said Filbert.

Although the person on the other end sounded like a live person, Filbert had doubts. So he decided to hang up.

Better Business Bureau President Janet Robb says Filbert's case is part of a growing phone scam hoping to steal identities.

"It sounds like a real person at first, but they are using this text-to-speech software program. Sometimes it is real, sometimes it is not," said Robb.
