A man is behind bars after he set fire to his ex-girlfriend's car because she didn't give him anything for Valentine's Day.

Just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, Memphis police were called to the 700-block of Chestnut Ave where they found a 2003 Saturn fully engulfed in flames in the home's driveway.

The victim told police she had gotten a phone call from her ex-boyfriend, 48-year-old JC Williams, who threatened to shoot and kill her because she didn't call or get him a Valentine's gift. After the phone call, the victim's father saw a light flickering through the living room window, followed by a loud explosion. When he looked outside he saw the Saturn on fire as Williams was getting into his car.

Police located Williams at his home, where they found a 5 gallon gas can and a book of matches in his car. He was arrested without incident and charged with Aggravated Assault and Setting Fire to Personal Property.

JC Williams is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail without bond; he is due in court Feb 15.
