HOT SPRINGS, AR - Police were called to a home in the 100 block of Pansy Saturday morning where they say they found a man dead from a stab wound in the chest.

Two roommates told police that the victim, 47-year-old Gary Burns, was stabbed by his girlfriend, 34-year-old Crystal Womble, during a fight.

Police found Womble hiding in a wooded area nearby, according to the arrest report.

Womble told police she and Burns had been fighting all morning so she decided to leave. After packing a bag, she says Burns pushed her against the kitchen counter and knocked her bag to the ground.

According to the arrest report, Womble told police she then grabbed a knife from the counter and lashed out at Burns in an attempt to get away.

Womble, who had severe bruising on her upper body according to the report, told police that Burns had physically assaulted her the previous day. The two roommates say the Burns physically abused Womble often, the report says.

Womble was arrested and charged with manslaughter and her bail was set at $25,000.
