Public works switch focus from roads to drains
Public works employees tell us they have about 12 spots that tend to flood quickly and they receiver numerous calls from homeowners near these ditches that had water back up near their homes.
The city had about ten crews out Thursday with special equipment to remove the debris safely and get that water down.
They told Fox16 they don’t advise doing it yourself.
"We do suggest people don't try and unclog it on their own because it can actually trap them or suck them down into the system.”
Public works employees ask that you don’t throw storm debris in ditches and that you’re sure to drop them off in their proper locations to prevent flooding.
You can always call 3-1-1 to get someone to pick it up.
