BENTON, AR -- Empty spaces at a car dealership usually indicate folks are coming and buying.

At Car World, they're coming and stealing!

"Besides being stupid, it's extremely bold," Dennis Clay, the owner, said.

Clay showed FOX16 video from one of those early morning thefts.  Surveillance reveals thieves walking onto the lot, and then later carefully and craftily putting a license plate on a Tahoe before driving off!

"You got a lot of visibility here. You wouldn't have thought anything like this would happen," Clay said.

Clay has no idea who the thieves are, but he recalls a group of suspicious men asking to look at the Tahoes.  They even cornered his salesman, which made him uncomfortable.

"I went out with him and then we had someone monitoring it and ready to call the police," Clay said.

That's $22,000 just gone from the lot in an instant.  Clay hopes to track the crooks down and return the SUVs to their spaces.

"We love this area. We think it's great. This crew is professional obviously after you see them on tape," Clay said.

If you have any information, call the Benton Police Department.
