SALINE COUNTY, AR – A Saline County man has been charged with Capital Murder in the death of his infant daughter, FOX16 has learned.

According to his attorney, Devin Hunt went to a DHS hearing at the Saline County Courthouse when he was arrested by officials from the Bryant Police Department. Hunt’s daughter died at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in June.

Hunt has been charged with capital murder and is being held in the Saline County Jail on no bond.

"We've worked a few here in Bryant over several years and they don't get easier," Sgt. Todd Crowson, spokesman for the police department, said.

Crowson said it literally took them three months to gather all of the evidence.  It was the medical examiner's report that pieced it together -- to link Hunt to his daughter's death.

Devin Hunt's attorney said it's too soon to blame his client, especially since the mother told police the baby had been with her earlier.

He plans to bring in his own medical experts to question the cause of death.

"In order to shake a child hard enough to cause these kinds of injuries, you'd have to cause neck injury and there's simply no neck injury," Bill James said.

The investigation is ongoing.
