If you didn't have a ticket to the game, right next door you didn't need to pay to get in.  Saturday, nearly one-thousand people took advantage of free admission to the Little Rock Zoo.

Everyone has a different favorite animal at the zoo.  Saturday, children from across Arkansas and beyond visited with their favorites for free.

But the zoo isn't just for kids.  "I'm a bird fanatic," says Laura Gates.

Gates isn't shy about her life-long love of birds. "I've just always been amazed by birds and flight," she says.

"It was cool to be able to have the bird land on my hand," she added.

Gates got a group together from Nashville and Little Rock to check out the Winged Wonders show Saturday.  "I begged them to come out, and we braved the Razorback traffic to come here," says Gates.

"We love the Razorbacks, but we're not at the football game today.  We're just here to do the zoo," says Rick Hyde.

Hyde's been promising his nieces from Murfreesboro a trip to the zoo for a while.  Saturday, he made good on that promise.  "The zoo's best when you can come with youngsters," he says.

So what are Taylor and Ava's favorites?  "Do you see it?  That's a monkey!" he said.

They even had a photo op on an ape.

Back in March, the Little Rock Zoo shattered its attendance record when nearly 27-thousand visited in one day for free.
