LITTLE ROCK, AR – While the big winners in Wednesday’s record $587 million Powerball jackpot were not in Arkansas, that doesn’t mean Arkansans came out empty handed.

The Nahlen family (pictured left) won $40,000 with a ticket they bought at the Toad Suck One Stop in Bigelow. Another as yet unidentified winner in Lonoke also won $10,000 in the Powerball drawing. The Nahlen family actually had the same ten grand prize, but purchased the multiplier, quadrupling their winnings.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery says more than $4 million of lottery sales were made on Wednesday. Sales peaked during the afternoon “drive time” at more than $8,000 per minute.

Wednesday’s sales increased scholarship funding by $1.4 million, bringing November’s totals to $3.4 for scholarships, according to the lottery.

In all, Arkansans have won more than $37 million in Powerball prizes since Oct 31st, 2009.
