Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Ken Casady announced a public auction of drug seized property to be held this Thursday, July 2, at 7:00 pm at Perry Appling’s Auctions, located at 22095 I-30 in Bryant.
Fourteen vehicles, including a loaded 2005 Chrysler 300 and 1978 Chevy Corvette, flat screen TVs, DVD players and other property will go to the highest bidder, with the proceeds going back to the law enforcement agencies to be used for such things as training, equipment and the purchase canine officers.
Casady said that this auction is the largest number of vehicles and the widest variety of other property that has been auctioned recently by the prosecutor’s office.
Vehicles that are used by traffickers to transport narcotics, and other property traceable as proceeds of the sale of narcotics may be seized and auctioned by state law. “This is an effective tool to diminish the ability of criminals to bring drugs into our community and I appreciate the hard work that our law enforcement agencies are doing out there to make our streets, schools and neighborhoods safe,” said Casady.
