There's a study from Women's Health that says once you hit 30, you gain about a pound of fat a year and lose a half pound of muscle. Getting in shape is obviously difficult and finding the time even worse. Some folks are turning to a video game for help.

Working out is not everyone's favorite thing to do. And the older we get, the harder it is to do, especially when life happens. That's why Kim Leech from Benton is trying to get back on the healthy track with a little help from her Wii Fit.

"I just wanted something to help me get to my moderate goal weight that I want to get at and it's something I can do at home," says Leech. "I think being here and at home at least it's something to get me back into the habit here where I'm not spending money for a gym or having to leave someone home alone like that. And maybe if I work into doing this religiously I can feel better of committing and paying for a gym and taking time to do that."

Kim is a wife and mother of one. She is in her early 30's and works 40 hours a week. She's hoping to lose 5 pounds in three weeks by maintaining a healthy diet and with daily Wii Fit workouts.

Kim's biggest issue is time. When she leaves work her day is nowhere near over. She heads home and the real work begins taking care of her family. So while this at-home workout sounds great, is it really going to give Kim the best results?

"That's a person that doesn't have a lot of time. They don't have the time to get to the gym and that's convenient as long as you keep your heart rate, get a sweat, that should work for you," says certified trainer Matt Brown.

But you have to stick to the exercise with no breaks. "With the Wii Fit you do kind of take breaks; you can actually sit if you want to. But at the gym if you come in for 30 minutes you are going to do something for 30 minutes. With the Wii Fit you can take breaks, step off, or not do it at all because there's no one watching you," says Brown.

So without anyone watching here's what Kim did:
  • 5 days a week she did 30-60 minutes on the Wii Fit.
  • In 3 weeks Kim lost 2 pounds.
  • She said she also worked in some walks.
  • And she kept on track with her healthy diet.
But Matt guaranteed that when he trains someone they will lose 1-3 pounds per week. Even Kim agreed that Wii Fit is a nice workout to do at home, but if you want true results you may have to leave your living room.

Kim also said her results were effected by the winter weather we've had this past month. Due to all the snow and ice some of her walks had to be cut short.
