BRYANT, AR - Sunday, the Family Church in Bryant celebrated the progress it has made since fire burned its youth center in September. The senior pastor tells us that despite the setback, the youth group has not skipped a beat.

"I walked in this morning, I didn't take five steps into the church and someone gave me a love offering toward the building project," says Family Church Senior Pastor Perry Black.

Black updated his congregation Sunday on the progress being made on a major construction project. In September, fire broke out at the church's youth center when lightning hit the building.

No one got hurt. The fire happened late at night, and Pastor Black remained hopeful the church could rebuild.

"We were excited to know that we were fully insured. We're going to be able to rise up out of the ashes and build a new building for our young people," says Black.

Despite the challenges of the fire, the youth department continues growing. The new teen complex will include a game room and nearly 13,000 square feet for the hundreds of young people who belong to the Family Church.

"Our church folks are excited about the great opportunity we've been given in spite of the temporary set back to leap into our future and have a greater more effective outreach to the young people in our community," says Black.

The pastor says the new youth building should be finished by June.
