LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A 30-foot American flag that was nearly destroyed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks is making the rounds in Arkansas, where military members and first responders are being honored for their service.
Supporters of what's been dubbed the National 9/11 Flag are trying to restore it after the attack on the Twin Towers left it in tatters. At the state Capitol Wednesday, nominated individuals did a symbolic stitching of a patch representing Arkansas. The goal is to take the flag to all 50 states and completely restore it before
the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
The flag is also scheduled to go to Mena, where a tornado devastated the town in April 2009. Emergency service personnel and law enforcement officers from Mena are among those being honored for their service.
