BENTON, AR – Kitty Smith, the former Assistant Director of the Benton Parks and Recreation Department, pled guilty Tuesday to charges related to the theft of funds from the Tyndall Park concession stand.

The investigation into bookkeeping discrepancies began in April. The city estimates that $6,445 was missing from the concession stand. Smith was fired in May.

Smith was sentenced to serve 3 years of probation, a $750 fine, $150 of court costs, and 40 hours of community service. The 58-year-old must also pay restitution to the City of Benton.

Smith pled guilty to computer fraud, a felony, falsifying business records and theft of property, both misdemeanors.
