LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Redfield Middle School played its last home basketball game Friday, after the White Hall school board decided to close the school for good.

Leaders say the school costs too much to operate, disappointing students like Devon Koontz.

"I've had a lot of good times here at Redfield and I just hate to see it go," said Koontz.

Next school year, students will attend White Hall Middle. It is a decision leaving many students like Griffin Kight and Austin Bowen upset.

"I was pretty much heart broken," said Kight.

But now the focus turns to the remaining away games and the school year.

"We are going to play hard, we are going to work hard, and we are going to do our best," said Bowen.

Teachers and staff will be repositioned throughout the district when the closure happens.

A parents group is planning to meet with state leaders Monday about the boards decision.
