Little Rock Priest Welcomes Pope Francis I as Catholic Church Leader

Pope Francis I has begun his first day as leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

The 76-year-old Argentine was elected by the papal conclave on Wednesday.

After the traditional white smoke poured from the chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican to signal his election, the new pontiff stepped onto the balcony at St. Peter's Basilica to greet the crowd below and the world via satellite.

Arkansas Catholics are welcoming the new pope.
