LITTLE ROCK, AR – Dozens of people gathered at J.A. Fair High school in Little Rock Thursday night to remember 15-year-old Blake Cooney, who was killed June 1st in a hit-and-run accident.
Friends and family members of Cooney said their final goodbye with music, a candlelight vigil, and sharing memories. Cooney attended J.A. Fair and friend after friend told stories of how he impacted their lives.
“He was always joking and laughing. He always smiled. He was never down, he was just a fun loving, outgoing person.”
“He was real cool. Funny, as soon as you met him you would laugh like that.”
Kevin Shelton, the man accused of killing Cooney and 15-year-old Jimmy Bullock, faces two counts of negligent homicide and is currently in the Pulaski County jail on a half-million dollar bond.
Police say Shelton admitted to smoking a “sherm” (a joint laced with PCP) prior to the accident.
