FORDYCE, AR -
John Aldrich wouldn't utter a word as FOX16 News cameras rolled, but Dallas County Sheriff's investigators say he admitted to burying his stepsister, Nancy Harvill, in a shallow grave behind the house they once shared.Deputies found Harvill's body bound Tuesday night in an old shop.
"It was hard process to get in and carefully recover a human body and in fact determine it was a human body," said Chuck Barker, who is an investigator in the department.
Barker said Aldrich's brother told deputies to go to a Fordyce home and check out back where John forbade family members to go because "that is where Nancy is buried."
"It's hard to determine what was known at the time," Barker said.
Harvill had not been seen since October 2011. Family members believed she ran away.
Deputies tell FOX16 Harvill's elementary-school-aged children live with a relative in Fordyce. Neighbors pointed us to a home where they say the kids lived, but the homeowners placed boxes on the porch to prevent our knocking on the door.
Deputies don't have a motive yet. They tell FOX16 News they did go to the family's home back in 2008 for a domestic dispute. They had not been back at the home until Tuesday night.
