Old Man Winter isn't done with us quite yet. A storm system tracking to our South will bring more snow to the Natural State later this week. Unlike the storm that dumped over 7 inches of snow on Little Rock Monday, this one will be farther South.
As low pressure tracks across the Central Gulf of Mexico Thursday night, moisture will spread Northward into Arkansas. With cold air already in place, most of the precipitation will be in the form of snow. As a matter of fact, the cold air will get drawn Southward into Louisiana on Friday, pushing the rain/snow line almost to the Gulf Coast by Friday evening.
The heaviest snow will likely be across Southern Arkansas Thursday night into Friday morning, with several inches possible near the Louisiana border. Snow amounts will be less farther North, but an inch or so is still likely across Central Arkansas through Friday morning. Snow will be very light across Northern Arkansas, with less than an inch of snow.
The track of the low pressure system will have to be carefully monitored, as any changes in the track will affect snowfall amounts.
