Every season hunters head into the woods and break the law to take advantage of deer at night. "It's our number one issue that we deal with especially come hunting season, the road hunting and hunting at night," says Arkansas Game and Fish Wildlife Officer, Corporal Matt Guthrie.
Last week, officers arrested two hunters for hunting at night in North Little Rock. Every year, poachers kill hundreds of deer. "It's just an unfair advantage and unethical for a hunter to go out at night and use a spotlight at night to momentarily stop the deer in it's tracks and shoot them," says Guthrie.
Guthrie also explains since they're not tagging and checking the deer,
Game and Fish loses biological data. If you're caught, you could face up to one year in jail, pay thousands of dollars in fines and your hunting privileges will be taken away for three years.
