A Jacksonville parent is under investigation for soliciting children for urine and it all happened inside an elementary school.
According to a police report obtained by FOX16 News, the parent told girls, some as young as 6, she wanted them to urinate in a cup at Jacksonville Elementary School.
It started in the cafeteria Wednesday morning. Jacksonville police say a parent having breakfast with her stepdaughter took her into this school bathroom.
Once inside, the report says the parent, identified as Heather Proffitt, "asked several students to urinate in a cup for her" and that "everyone stared at her and Proffitt kept begging."
After several students told her no, the police report says Proffitt asked a 2nd grade student and told her "it will be our little secret." The report added that one child did urinate for Proffitt.
The principal at the school, Sonya Whitfield, notified police within minutes of students reporting to teachers what happened.
"I’m in disbelief," Whitfield says. "This is a parent who I feel like took advantage of our students."
Whitfield says Proffitt used to work in the cafeteria so she's not a stranger to students.
"We try to plan for everything, but there are just those things you don't expect," Whitfield says.
We wanted to hear from Heather Proffitt for ourselves. But with her car in the driveway, she didn't answer. Later when the car was gone, again no one answered our knocks. A source told FOX16 News she’s avoiding people and won’t come to the door for anyone.
Jacksonville Police say Proffitt is under investigation for trespassing and harassment in one of the most extreme cases the department has seen.
"[I'm] blown away, completely blown away that anyone would go to this length to go to an elementary school and approach children," April Kiser with JPD says.
Investigators believe Proffitt was trying to obtain a clean urine sample for a drug test for her boyfriend. Officers contacted both the Department of Human Services and the child abuse hotline after the incident. No charges have been filed yet.
