In White County, the powerful winds knocked power out for hundreds and damaged several homes. In the small town of Letona some residents feel lucky to be alive.
"I really didn't hear the noise as much as I felt the house shake, whole house was coming down." Thomas Dunn's whole house didn't come down, but a massive tree ended up in what used to be his living room.
“I'm just glad I'm alive. If it fell three feet the other way I wouldn't be here," said Dunn.
Just over 200 people live in Letona but while the town is small, the damage is not. The powerful winds flipped a trailer upside down and uprooted trees causing parts of homes to collapse. Now the cleanup begins.
Joanne and Frankie fuller are thankful to be alive. Amazingly, none of the trees hit the Fullers house. Her three sons slept through it.
"My husband and I were in the living room and we just stood there and froze. we could hear them (trees) falling around it," said JoAnne Fuller.
Seeing the damage has Joanne emotional. “When you wake up and hear this and see this, there's nothing else to say. There's nothing else to think about. What do you say? I love you," said JoAnne.
Downed power lines are all over this town including in Joanne's driveway. She also has eight uprooted trees. But all in all, Joanne says everyone's okay and she's lucky. Power crews were hard at work trying to get power restored but because there are so many snapped trees and downed power lines it could take days before power is restored. The Red Cross was on hand Wednesday to help families in need.
