LITTLE ROCK, AR – Two men were arrested Thursday morning, suspected of shooting and killing 25-year-old David Halpin in eastern Garland County.

The Garland County Sheriff’s Office says they found Dustin Wayne Brown, 24, and Stephen Tye Curtiss, 26, in Grant County.

Investigators believe Brown and Curtiss followed Halpin and 29-year-old Amber Brinsfield to a home on Barite Street, which is east of Hot Springs. The four then got into an argument, which escalated into a fist fight. During the fight, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Halpin, who died at the scene. Brinsfield was struck in the face during the fight, she was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office says Brown and Curtiss were arrested at 7:30am and charged with first degree murder and second degree battery. They were booked into the county jail and are held on no bond.

Brown and Curtiss have so far declined to speak with investigators. The relationship between the two suspects and the victims is unknown, as well as the motive for killing Halpin.
