Tyson Foods chairman John Tyson is no longer a board of trustees member at the University of Arkansas.

Tyson cites problems with scheduling and an increasing frustration with the board itself.

In a letter addressed to Governor Mike Beebe dated Feb. 5, Tyson wrote that he had become "increasingly frustrated with the board's inability to make meaningful change in the structure and delivery of higher education in Arkansas."

The food distributor's chairman went on to say that his schedule makes it increasingly difficult to be an effective board member.

Tyson's resignation went into effect Feb. 8, just halfway through a 10-year term on the board of the state's flagship university, which is not commenting on Tyson's statement.
