The University of Central Arkansas is working to resolve a payroll issue that resulted in $2 million of incorrect direct deposits to employees.

The university caught the error quickly, but there's still some outstanding money the university is working to get back from people who no longer work at UCA.

The problem is a keystroke error. Someone processed the 2012 payroll information instead of  2013. The President of UCA, Tom Courtway, says it was a small typo and once it was realized, the problem was reversed.
Some people got paid more, some saw less money in their account, and some people who no longer work for the university got paid money they shouldn't have.

5 people still owe the university money back at a total of about $4,800. President Courtway says in his opinion, the situation is being rectified. "We're making arrangements with them to pay that money back. They're all former employees."

A letter from Human Resources was sent out to all employees explaining the situation, and the university insists it won't happened again, and all  the funds are accounted for. "Human error happens from time to time. It was an honest mistake."

UCA apologizes for any inconvenience and is working diligently with the bank to collect the $4,800 still outstanding. UCA has developed internal programming to keep the error from happening again.
