Pulaski County escapee Bryan Jones is now in custody. The 22-year old gave himself up to police near the Little Rock National Airport on Wednesday
Jones
fled from the Pulaski County courthouse in downtown Little Rock Tuesday.
His escape turned the River Market lunch hour into a sea of police, searching car to car, even the Arkansas River.
The Department of Community Correction confirms to FOX16 News when Jones took off, a probation officer was escorting another inmate in the courthouse leaving Jones sitting in the probation office with no officer.
Even with the probation officer out of the office, there is a sign posted on the wall that says that “you are still in custody of the court and no one can leave here without permission.” Either Bryan Jones didn't see it or clearly, he didn't care.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says anywhere from 50 to 100 inmates go in and out of the courthouse everyday without incident. So deputies have a lot of questions for Jones now.
"How did he get out, where did he run to, what has he been doing these last almost 24 hours," says Lt. Carl Minden.
A 24-hours people in and around the River Market aren't soon to forget.
Jones admitted in court Tuesday to kidnapping a Central High School student and holding her at knifepoint in April.
That student's mother told FOX16 News that Jones said he was sorry and called her Wednesday to say he was turning himself in.
