Recap: New Mexico vs. Air Force
Albuquerque, NM (Sports Network) - Led by 22 points from Hugh Greenwood, the New Mexico Lobos defeated the Air Force Falcons, 86-56, in Mountain West Conference action at the Pit/Bob King Court.
For the Lobos (23-6, 9-4 MW), Drew Gordon posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Phillip McDonald chipped in 13 points off the bench.
Taylor Broekhuis led the Falcons (13-14, 3-10) with 11 points.
New Mexico opened the game shooting 55.2 percent from the field, including 4- of-13 from beyond the arc. Air Force managed to make just 29.6 percent of its field goals, including 4-of-13 from three-point range. The Lobos started the game on a 16-6 run, and led by as many as 19 in the half before entering the break with a comfortable, 40-23 lead.
The Lobos cooled off to 43.3 percent shooting after the break, but kept they kept the pressure on by connecting on 8-of-16 from three-point range in the second half. Air Force improved to 44 percent shooting from the floor, including a 4-of-9 clip on its three-pointers. The Lobos pushed their advantage to as many as 41 in the second half, as they cruised to season series sweep of the Falcons.
New Mexico dominated in the paint, outscoring Air Force 28-18. The Lobos also owned the boards, grabbing a 44-32 rebounding advantage.Game Notes
