North Little Rock, Ark - The Arkansas coaching staff still had their recruiting faces on Thursday night.
Bloodshot eyes, dark circles, definite signs from a lack of sleep.
These guys have spent the last several months on the recruiting trail. When asked about the Razorbacks message to prospects Head Coach Bobby Petrino wouldn't reveal the secret.
"We have a lot of them, but we're certainly not going to tell you them," Petrino joked with the media. "One of the things...getting them on campus. That's what our coaches goal is to get them on campus, and we know once we do that we have as good a chance as anybody."
"To me that's what seals the deal when they get around our players," added defensive coordinator Paul Haynes. "They talk to them, and they feel like home."
The Razorbacks class was filled with 3 and 4 star recruits. Dorial Green-Beckham was a big 5-star recruit that got away but the coaches aren't that interested in the star system.
"I really don't even know what the kids in our class got for stars," admitted offensive line coach Chris Klenakis.
"I've been around 5-stars that aren't very good, and I've been around 2-stars that are 1st round draft choices," added Haynes.
Offensive Coordinator Paul Petrino used a current crop of Razorbacks to make his case.
"I think the more important thing is, let's evaluate them in 4 years," said Petrino. "If you go back, if you thought Jarius Wright, Joe Adams, Greg Childs were going to be as good as they were, nobody knew that."
So no DGB Thursday, but plenty of WPS as Petrino and his staff shared his recruiting class with the crowd gathered at Verizon Arena.
